BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan College/Premier Bank Student-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 9 – Oct. 15 are football player Aman Speed Jr. and women’s golfer Sandra Brink.
Brink is a sophomore from Stockholm, Sweden.
She took runner-up honors last week in the MEC Fall Championships at the Glade Spring Resort.
She fired a final round 77 and closed at 88-77-77-242, helping the Lady Bobcat team to a second-place finish, their highest ever in a conference championship.
The event closed out the fall season for the Lady Bobcat golfers.
Speed Jr. was key in West Virginia Wesleyan's 10-7 win over UVa-Wise.
He scooped up a fumble and raced 41 yards for WVWC's only touchdown in the game.
He also recorded six tackles in the game, including a pair of sacks that totaled up 14 yards.
His effort helped end a four-game slide for the Bobcats.
Speed Jr. was named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Wesleyan is now 3-4 overall and will visit Notre Dame College this Saturday.
