BUCKHANNON – A seven-run third inning lifted the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats to a 12-6 victory over the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots today in a non-conference game at Hank Ellis Field.
The win improved the Bobcats to 7-6 on the season.
The Bobcats were down by a 5-0 score before their third-inning explosion.
Ohio Valley scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth inning to make it a 7-6 game.
Kerns hit a sacrifice fly that scored Logsdon and Riley Metz hit a two-run home run that bounced off the top of the fence in the bottom of the seventh to increase the Wesleyan lead to 10-6.
Wesleyan collected 15 hits in the contest with Logsdon getting three and Koon and Vega each getting two each.
Interim head coach Brett Ripley let most of his pitching staff get work before conference play as six pitchers saw action.
Jake Bishop (1-2) pitched two innings of relief to earn the win.
He allowed one earned run on three hits and fanned two.
The Bobcats will return to action Friday as they host Fairmont State in a conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
