Auburndale, Fla. -- The WVWC baseball team took on Minnesota-Crookston Tuesday in doubleheader action. Wesleyan would drop the first game, 8-3. Game Two proved to be a battle as a late Bobcat rally fell just short, with a final of 11-10.
Wesleyan proved to have plenty of offense in the later game, registering 15 hits. Starting Pitcher Ryan Reicoff threw four innings for the bobcats, allowing 3 runs (one earned) on three hits and two strikeouts.
WVWC had a 4-3 advantage heading into the bottom of the fifth, but the Golden Eagles would put up seven runs to take control.
Wesleyan would head into the final inning needing seven runs to continue the game. Alex Skinner would start the rally by driving in both Riley Metz and Nick Grotti. Next up, Kyle Kania would bring home Skinner with a single to left. Kania and Kolby Wolf would score on a Greg Smith double. Smith would score on a double down the infield line by Wyatt Adkins.
The Bobcats rally would ultimately end just short, as Minnesota-Crookston would escape with the 11-10 victory.
Wesleyan will face Malone Wednesday night in Winter Haven.
