Michael Anderson Wins MEC Play of the Year

BRIDGEPORT -- Michael Anderson's 11-yard touchdown run that included a leap over defenders into the end zone has been selected as the 2016-17 Mountain East Conference Play of the Year.

Anderson's touchdown run on a Thursday night at West Liberty was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter as a "Top Play" later on in the evening. The tweet that had the video had over 70,000 impressions on the night and was picked up by several prominent social media accounts including Deadspin.

The MEC Play of the Year was selected by a combination of a fan vote conducted via social media, conference administrators and the league office.

Anderson's play narrowly edged out the buzzer-beater from Shepherd's Steffen Davis against Notre Dame. Marlee Coleman's overtime goal against West Virginia Wesleyan and Raphael Northoff's goal from 40 yards also received large portions of the fan vote. (VIEW ALL NOMINEES)
