'Cats To Face Marshall in Exhibition Basketball Game Sunday

BUCKHANNON – Head coach Jack Meriwether's West Virginia Wesleyan men's basketball team will face the Marshall Thundering Herd this Sunday in an exhibition contest in the Cam Henderson Center.

The game will tip-off at 7 p.m.

Head coach Dan D'Antoni's Marshall squad finished 20-15 last season advancing all the way to the Conference USA championship game.

"We are very excited to open our season going on the road to play a team of Marshall's caliber," remarked Meriwether. "They have proven to be one of the premier programs in Conference USA and will be a real challenge for our team this early in the season. It is a real privilege to get the chance to play at the Cam Henderson Center and we are looking forward to giving Marshall our best shot."

Meriwether's Bobcats were picked sixth in the MEC Preseason poll coming off a 13-16 season last year.

The Bobcats lost leading scoring Mo Berchie to graduation, but return the next three leading scorers from last season in junior Kevin Kangni (13.4 ppg), sophomore forward Luke Layhew (11.9 ppg) and junior forward Fred Brondsted (9.5 ppg).
