Men's Basketball Falls to Cal (Pa.) in Overtime

GLENVILLE - West Virginia Wesleyan opened their 2017-18 campaign Saturday afternoon in an exciting overtime game against California (Pa.). The Bobcats battled back against the Vulcans to force the extra frame, but California eventually prevailed 88-83. 

 
With only 4:37 remaining in regulation, the Vulcans held an eight-point lead at 60-52. But Coach Jack Meriwether's Bobcats rallied to force overtime. The score stood at 67-67 after regulation. 
 
In the overtime, Cal again produced an eight point lead at 83-75. Wesleyan rallied and cut the margin to four, but could not fully consummate the comeback. 
 
Four different Bobcats scored in double figures.  Kevin Kangni posted team highs with 20 points and 13 rebounds. He was complemented by Luca Petrovic with 15 points, Fred Bronsted 12, and Aaron Ariri 11. Petrovic posted a game high seven assists.
 
California's duo of Isaiah Lewis (29 points) and Terry Davis Jr. (25 points) accounted for 54 of the 88 Vulcan points. 
 
Wesleyan returns to action on Sunday afternoon in the event at Glenville's Waco Center. The Bobcats face Slippery Rock in a 2:00 tip off.
