Wesleyan Men Fall to Wheeling Jesuit

BUCKHANNON -- Wheeling Jesuit proved why they are nationally ranked Satruday afternoon, as four different Cardinals scored in double figures as they defeated Coach Jack Meriwether's West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats 82-55.

 

Jesuit raced to a 53-19 halftime lead, and held on as the Bobcats found some rhythm in the second half.  The hot-shooting Cards carried their first half shooting to a 57.1& for the game.

 

Aaron Ariri led the Bobcats with 15 points and eight rebounds. Kevin Kangni added 11 points and Luke Layhew added seven rebounds. Wesleyan won the team rebounding battle 37-34.

 

Wheeling was led by Haywood Highsmith with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Other double figure scorers were Pat Moseh 16, Preston Boswell 15, and Brent Pegram 14. The Cardinals improve to 4-0.

 

Wesleyan falls to 0-3, and 0-1 in the Mountain East Conference. The Bobcats are back in action on Monday night, traveling to West Liberty. Tip-off is set for 7:30.
