WHEELING -- The Bobcats were unable to contain a hot-shooting Wheeling team that drained over 65 percent of their shots Saturday.
Wesleyan seemed to answer back early in the game, but were outplayed in the final 10 minutes of the first half, getting outscored 26-7. The Cardinals took a 43-21 lead in the half and built on it early to put the game out of reach.
For Wheeling, all five starters got in the double digits in the scoring column, with Senior Drake Goddard leading the charge with 18 points. Haywood Highsmith posted a double-double for the Cardinals, registering 13 points to go along with 10 assists. Highsmith narrowly missed a triple-double, adding eight rebounds as well.
Wesleyan went 21-of-46 (45.7 percent) from the field.
Wheeling shot an impressive 29-44 (65.9 percent) on the night.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 7-19 on the year. Wheeling improves to 21-5 overall.
Wesleyan will face Fairmont State at home on February 21st. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
