Bobcat Golfers Finish Third in MEC Championships

DANIELS – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's golf team closed strong in the final round of the Mountain East Conference Championships today the Glade Springs Resort.

Coach J.D. Lamm's squad closed play with a final round 294, ending the tournament with a team tally of 903. 

Wesleyan was 13 strokes behind runner-up West Liberty (890) and only 16 shots behind champion Charleston (887).

Senior Nick West (pictured) was the top performer for the Bobcats, closing play as the number seven individual in the tournament (79-69-75-223).

Three other Bobcat golfers finished in a tight pack tied for 11th; Colin Chapman (74-80-75-229), Nicholas Casingal (76-75-78-229), and Zach Chapman (81-76-72-229). 

Junior James Snavely matched Zach Chapman's final round 72, and elevated himself 13 spots 22nd on the final day (85-79-72-236). 

West Liberty's Michael Rogers and Concord's Brett Laxton tied for the top individual spots, each firing a three-day total of 217. 

This was Wesleyan's highest finish in the five-year history of the Mountain East Conference on the men's side.

The MEC Championship wrapped up play during the fall season for the Bobcats.
