BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston has been picked by a vote of the league's coaches to win the 2016 Mountain East Conference men's soccer title.
The Golden Eagles finished atop the poll with 36 points and a maximum six first-place votes. UC captured the MEC regular season and tournament titles a year ago, and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals all for the second-straight year. Charleston returns All-America forward Will Roberts to help pace the attack.
Notre Dame was picked to finish second with 28 points and one first-place vote, edging out Urbana with 27 points. The Falcons and Blue Knights each earned bids to the NCAA Tournament last season. Wheeling Jesuit was slotted fourth with 21 points, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (18), Concord (10) and Shepherd (7).
