BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats suffered yet again another one-goal loss during the 2016 campaign.
This time it was a 1-0 decision to the Urbana Blue Knights in a Mountain East Conference game tonight at Culpepper Field.
The lone goal came in the 74th minute for Urbana.
The Blue Knights took a corner and a put a shot on goal, but a Wesleyan defender headed the ball out of the net.
Urbana's Harry Tamplin was at the right place at the right time and he scooped up the rebound and sent the ball back into the goal from just a few yards out.
Wesleyan pressured Urbana in the final 15 minutes but was never able to get that elusive first goal.
The loss dropped Wesleyan to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the MEC.
Four of the five Bobcat losses have been by just one goal.
Urbana improved to 4-2-1 overall and 2-2 in the MEC.
Urbana had a 12-7 lead in shots and a 7-5 margin in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Alessandro Armenia turned away six shots.
The game featured six yellow cards and one red card.
Wesleyan will return to action this Sunday as they stay at home and face Shepherd in a conference contest at 3 p.m.
