BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Urbana's Raphael Northoff is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Nathan Jones shares the league's Defensive Player of the Week with Jens Demul of West Virginia Wesleyan.
Northoff, a freshman from Ahlen, Germany, helped the Blue Knights to a pair of wins last week to run their winning streak to five matches. Northoff's week was highlighted by a hat trick against Concord which included a goals of 40 and 25 yards.
Jones, a senior from Flintshire, Wales, earns Defensive Player of the Week honors for a third time this season for his role in UU's two wins last week. He made three crucial save in an important MEC win over Notre Dame, and then shut out Concord for 72 minutes as the Blue Knights picked up the win.
Demul, a senior from Antwerp, Belgium, helped WVWC to six points last week on defense. He helped lead the unit to a shutout win over Wheeling Jesuit, and helped limit Concord to four shots on goal in a win over the Mountain Lions, and limited Charleston's potent offense to just five shots on goal.
Other Top Performances
Offense: Max Simpson (CU) had a goal and two assists last week for the Mountain Lions ... Leonardo Paiva added four goals to his haul in 2016.
Defense: Jared Garlow (CU) had his first career goal in a 4-1 win over Shepherd ... Daniele De Angelis (NDC) shut out Bloomsburg.
