SHEPHERDSTOWN – Five different players managed to get into the scoring act for the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats as they rolled past the Shepherd Rams by a 5-1 score today in a Mountain East Conference match.
The win was key for head coach Gavin Donaldson and his Bobcats as they all but assured themselves a spot in the MEC Tournament that beings in two weeks.
Wesleyan is now firmly entrenched as the fourth seed with a 6-5 record in the conference and an 8-7 overall record.
The Bobcats have one conference game left, this Sunday at Urbana.
It took Wesleyan 21 minutes to get on the scoreboard, but once they did they were off and running.
Jens Demul made it a 2-0 game when he scored on a penalty kick 16 minutes later.
Less than a minute later, Tre' Taliaferro got into the scoring act to up the Wesleyan lead to 3-0.
Falconeri was credited with his second assist of the game.
Shepherd scored in the 61st for their lone goal, but Ian Miles gave Wesleyan a 4-1 advantage with a goal in the 68th minute.
Nick Ranieri had the assist on the goal.
Conor Davies wrapped up the scoring for Wesleyan with a goal in the 83rd minute.
The assist on the goal went to Ross Grizzard.
Wesleyan unleashed 34 shots and 15 on goal.
Shepherd owned 11 shots and just three on goal
Armenia played 78 minutes and turned away two shots. Bach didn't see a shot.
Shepherd fell to 1-13 overall and 0-10 in the MEC.
