BRIDGEPORT -- Notre Dame's Leo Paiva is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Jens Demul is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Paiva, a junior from Brazil, continued his torrid scoring in 2016 two more goals last week as the Falcons went 1-0-1. He notched the equalizer in a key MEC matchup against No. 5 Charleston, and then had the decisive score burying a penalty kick as the Falcons downed Wheeling Jesuit.
Demul, a senior from Belgium, played a key role as the Bobcats went 2-0 last week, including an upset win over No. 15 Urbana. After scoring a goal in WVWC's 5-1 win over Shepherd, Demul was key in helping shut out the Blue Knights and also stepped to the spot to convert the game-winning penalty in the 81st minute.
