Armenia Named MEC Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT -- Urbana's Jacob Wischmeier is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Alessandro Armenia is league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Wischmeier, a sophomore from Rocky River, Ohio, had a role in both goals in a 2-0 win over Notre Dame to open the week. He followed that up with a brace against Concord, including the game-winning goal in overtime against the Mountain Lions. He finished the week with seven points on three goals and an assist.

Armenia, a sophomore from Rome, Italy, helped West Virginia Wesleyan secure the No. 2 seed in this week's MEC Tournament with a pair of shutouts last week. He made three saves as the Bobcats earned a scoreless draw against No. 1 Charleston, and then had four saves in a shutout win over Wheeling Jesuit in the regular season finale.

Offense: Patrick Guier (UC) helped the Golden Eagles cap an undefeated regular season with a 1-0-1 week that included a two-goal, two-assist performance against Shepherd ... Sam Ashton (CU) had a hat trick against Shepherd and an assist vs. Urbana ... Conor Davies (WVWC) had a goal against Wheeling Jesuit.
Defense: Daniel McNicholas (UU) had nine saves and allowed just one goal in a 2-0-0 week.
