SKILLMAN, N.Y. -- The ITA has announced that veteran coach Marc Walters has been named to 2016-17 Atlantic Region Men's Rankings Committee.
Walters has been the head coach of the West Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams since the spring of 2013.
James Helvey, ITA National Rankings Chair, made the appointment, which will continue for a term of three years. Walters will serve as the chair of the committee, which includes representatives from the Mountain East Conference, PSAC and CIAA conferences as well as Independent Bluefield State.
Walters also currently serves on the regional NCAA Regional Men's Ranking committee; a post he has held since 2014.
"I want to thank James Helvey, as well as the ITA for their continued support of our sport and for serving the interests of our teams as we strive to improve tennis across the Atlantic region," said Walters. It is always an honor to be asked to serve. Anytime we can help these student-athletes gain such well-deserved recognition it is a worthy endeavor."
Walters, who begins his fifth season with Wesleyan in January, brings a 560-287 record into the spring. The men's squad pursues a fifth consecutive NCAA appearance under his guidance, while his women's team currently finds itself ranked for the first time in nine years.
