MORGANTOWN – The West Virginia Wesleyan tennis Bobcats dropped a 5-0 decision today to No. 34 Southern Indiana in non-conference action at the indoor courts in Morgantown's Ridgeview Racquet Club.
Wesleyan had two close doubles contest that didn't go their way and Southern Indiana rode that momentum to their 5-0 victory.
Pierre-Olivier Bedard and Lukas Laipold came up just short at No. 2 doubles, falling by a 9-8 (6) score in their match and Ramon Rodriguez and Pedro Nassar narrowly lost at No. 3 doubles by an 8-6 score.
"Southern Indiana took that momentum and just rode it a victory," remarked head coach Marc Walters. "If we come out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead, the whole match changes, but it wasn't meant to be. Right now, we are just not there yet. Other teams are shutting the door and not letting us in the matches early on."
Wesleyan dropped to 2-2 overall on the season.
Southern Indiana improved to 7-4 on the season.
Wesleyan will return to action Saturday when they travel to Bluefield State for a 1 p.m. non-conference outing.
