Tennis 'Cats Run in the NCAA Tournament Ends Against Chowan

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The No. 3 West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team fell to second-seeded Chowan 5-1 on Sunday in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region II Final.
 
The Bobcats trailed 2-1 after doubles play with No. 2 doubles duo Ramon Rodriguez and Pedro Nassar earning the lone doubles victory (8-5). 

Nathan Sabate (pictured) and Alexander Lyudinovskiy fell to their opponents 8-2 in No. 1 doubles play with Ferran Berga and Jacobo Rendon dropping an 8-2 decision in the No. 3 spot. 
 
Sabate suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss in No. 1 singles with Rodriguez taking a 6-1, 6-3 setback in No. 2 singles. 

With a 4-1 lead, the Hawks used a 7-6 (5) win by Matuesz Izycki in No. 3 singles to secure the 5-1 win on their home court. 
 
The Bobcats end the season with a 17-7 overall record. 

The Hawks are one of 16 teams to advance to the NCAA Championship set for May 9-12.
