Wesleyan Produces Eight Top 10 Finishes at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N. C. -- West Virginia Wesleyan's track teams traveled to Durham, North Carolina over the weekend, competing in the Duke University Invitational.

The event included 46 schools, including four from the Mountain East Conference.

Wesleyan produced eight top ten performances over the two days, four for the Bobcats and four for the Lady Bobcats.

On the women's side, Sydney Pineault just missed hitting an NCAA Provisional with a 11:06 performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing fourth.

In the javelin, the nationally ranked trio of Rachel Czulewicz, Abby Buchan, and Katie Demi placed fourth, fifth, and sixth.

Czulewicz' throw was a seasonal best of 40.85. This trio is all nationally ranked in the event.

Nate Moore led the men with a ninth place finish in the 110-hurdles. He just came up short making the final with a 14.52 time, just missing the NCAA mark of 14.50. 

Teammate Tavaris Anderson placed tenth in both the long jump and triple jump.

The 4x100 relay team of Moore, Anderson, Jacob Ortiz, and Chris Fick placed ninth in that event with a 42.44.

Wesleyan will be host the MEC Championships from May 5-7.
