Track Teams Still Ranked Regionally By The USTFCCCA

BUCKHANNON – As the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat and Lady Bobcat track and field teams head into hosting the Mountain East Conference championships this weekend, both teams continue to be ranked in the USTFCCCA regional rankings that were released today.

The Bobcats fell two spots this week but still check in ranked eighth.

They are still the only Mountain East Conference men's team ranked regionally.

On the women's side, the Lady Bobcats stayed put this week at ninth.

Wheeling Jesuit, the only other MEC team in the regional rankings, remained in the sixth spot.

The MEC Championships will begin Friday at 10 a.m. at Cebe Ross Field.

On Saturday, they will start following Wesleyan's graduation at 12:30 p.m. and then conclude on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Following the MEC Championships, head coach Jesse Skiles will take his teams to the Allegheny Gator Invite on Friday, May 12.

That will be their last meet before the NCAA Nationals in Tampa, Fla. on May 25-27.

Right now, Wesleyan has two performers in the NCAA Top 20 – Lauren Cvechko in the heptathlon (10th) and Abby Buchan in the javelin (15th).
