Six Track and Field Performers Earn USTFCCA All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the All-Region honorees for the 2016-17 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top-three relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the indoor track and field season.

A total of 671 men from 114 different institutions made up the 913 men's All-Region honors.

On the women's side, 621 women from 147 institutions made up the 925 women's All-Region honors.

Two Bobcats earned All-Region honors.

Matt Dearth in the 10,000 meters and Nate Moore in the 110-meter hurdles.

From the Lady Bobcats, they had four competitors in five events.

Lauren Cvechko received double honors in the high jump and the heptathlon.

The three other Lady Bobcats were Abby Buchan in the javelin, Katie Demi in the javelin and Sydney Pineault in the steeplechase.

"I am really proud of all of our regional performers," remarked coach Jesse Skiles. "They made a very large impact on what was a special season for Bobcat track."
