Cross Country Men Tabbed for Second in MEC Preseason Poll

BRIDGEPORT -- Concord has been picked by the coaches in the Mountain East Conference to win the 2016 men's cross country title. 

The Mountain Lions finished atop the poll with 79 points and had a maximum of eight first-place votes. CU returns several members from last year's MEC championship team including Jason Weitzel who was the league's Freshman of the Year a season ago.

West Virginia Wesleyan was picked to finish second with 70 points, and Wheeling Jesuit was slotted third with 65 points and a first place vote. Charleston was picked fourth (62), followed by UVa-Wise (48), Notre Dame (35) and Fairmont State (29). Glenville State (27), Urbana (18) and West Liberty (17) rounded out the poll.

The 2016 MEC men's and women's cross country championships will be held Sat., Oct. 22, at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
