Vet Named NCAA DIvision II CCA Regional Pitcher of the Year

BUCKHANNON -- The postseason honors for the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat softball team continue to roll in when the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association announced the 2016 softball All-Region Teams.

Wesleyan landed six players on the team CCA Atlantic Regional Team.

Hannah Vet, (picxtured) a sophomore from Naples, Fla., was named the NCAA Division II CCA's Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year.

Vet led or was near the top of several pitching categories in the Mountain East Conference. She led the MEC in earned-run-average (0.68) and was second in opposing batting average (.195) and wins (24).

The sophomore was also named to the CCA First Team. She was previously selected as a First Team All-MEC player.

Morgan Bruce and Brooklyn Waddell were also named to the CCA First Team while Olivia Gore, Anna Eggleston and Sayaka Foley were selected to the CCA Second Team.

Bruce is a 5-8 sophomore catcher from Lynchburg, Va. She currently owns a .352 batting average with team-leading 13 home runs and 50 RBIs.

Waddell is a 5-4 junior second baseman from Buckhannon, W. Va. She is hitting .369 with 11 home runs and 54 RBIs.

Vet, Bruce and Waddell will now be on the ballot when the CCA votes for the 2016 All-American Team.

Gore is a 5-7 junior outfielder from Berryville, Va. She is leading the Lady Bobcats with a .374 batting average with two home runs and 36 RBIs.

Eggleston is a 5-6 senior outfielder/pitcher from Cincinnati, Ohio. At the plate, she is hitting .358 with seven home runs and 51 RBIs.

In the circle, she is perfect 9-0 with an earned-run-average of 1.41.

Foley is a 5-4 junior pitcher from Peoria, Ariz.

In her first year with the Lady Bobcat program, she compiled an 18-3 record with an earned-run-average of 1.60.

A total of 12 players from the MEC were named to the CCA All-Region teams.

Wesleyan led the way with six players while Charleston had four and Fairmont State had one.
