BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan head softball coach Steve Warner has announced the dates for his annual winter softball clinics.
The first camp is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 and the second camp is slated for Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017
The Feb. 4 clinic will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open for all players from 5th-12th grade.
The cost of the camp is $75 and includes a t-shirt (pre-registration only) and lunch.
The camp will include hitting concepts and drills, defense drills, infield/outfield work and catching and pitching instruction.
The second camp on Feb. 19 will be broken down into two different sessions.
Campers can choose between a hitting and pitching camp that will run from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for $40 or just a hitting camp that will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for $30.
Campers are instructed to bring a glove, shorts/t-shirt, sweats, tennis shoes and bat/batting gloves and helmet.
Pitchers are also encouraged to bring a personal catcher.
The camp is under the direction of West Virginia Wesleyan head coach Steve Warner, who is entering his 25th season with the Lady Bobcats.
Warner has won 21 conference titles in his 24 seasons at the helm of the Lady Bobcat program and has been named conference coach of the year 16 times.
His overall coaching record is 949-341-1. He ranks sixth in the country in victories among active NCAA Division II coaches.
He will be joined by his staff of assistant coaches Bob Allen, Marissa Leslie, Cortney Radke. Special guests for the clinics include Burgettstown High School head coach Mark Deer, pitching great David "Bimbo" Vallina, former Lady Bobcat All-Conference catcher Stephanie St. Peter and the Wheeling Jesuit coaching staff.
Early registration is encouraged for both camps as spots will fill up very quickly.
