BUCKAHNNON – The WVWC Lady Bobcats have played six games so far in the PFX Spring Games in sunny Clermont, Florida and currently have a 3-3 record.
After a slow 1-3 start, the Bobcats got back on track with two impressive wins beating Felician University 9-3, and then defeating Lynn University 9-1. The offense came alive for Wesleyan on Monday as the Cats produced 26 hits in the two wins, led by Junior Madison Casto's six hits in seven at bats. For the season, Casto is hitting a blistering .714 with 15 hits in the first six games. Freshmen left fielder Lauryn King has also been productive with a solid .429 clip including her first collegiate home run.
Another highlight for the lady bobcats was freshman pitcher Haylee Shires. Shires went the distance against Lynn, and was very effective in earning her first collegiate victory. The Bobcats continue play in Florida through Wednesday before heading to Salem, Virginia on Thursday where they host their annual spring tournament at the Moyer Sports Complex.
