BUCKHANNON -- Coach Vicky Bullett's West Virginia Wesleyan College women's basketball team faces their first competition this Sunday, facing the West Virginia University Mountaineers in a Sunday afternoon exhibition.
Coach Mike Carey's WVU squad finished 24-11 last season, and they enter this year ranked #15 in the nation's pre-season poll. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in the WVU Coliseum.
"For a growing program, we are excited to finally get to compete, so I can observe how far we have developed," Bullett said. "Against WVU, we will just play, do our best to execute, play hard, enjoy the opportunity and hopefully take something away from the experience."
Playing against a deep and talented Mountaineer squad that is in the rugged Big 12 Conference, Bullett is providing her team a chance to play a truly top-shelf D-I program. The head coach is excited for the opportunity.
"We will be playing against a respected D-I team that personally follow through the season," Bullett said. "This will be a good chance for me to have the opportunity to visit with Mike Carey and his staff who won the Big 12 Tournament last season."
The game will be broadcast on these WVU radio stations.
