BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan Women came in strong after winter break, beating Livingstone 83-69 in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon. The Blue Bears were led by Kyala Searcy hitting seven 3's, finishing with 23 points.
Wesleyan opened the game with a 6-0 lead. After the first quarter, Bobcats led 22-20 then lengthened the margin throughout the second quarter outscoring Livingstone 28-18. Coach Vicky Bullett's squad held the lead the remainder of the game.
Leading the Bobcats to victory were Mari Stewart, Stacy Remer, Brittany Stawovy, Lana Long and Tara Goldman. Stewart finished with 25 points followed by Remer scoring 15 points both grabbing 8 rebounds. Stawovy scored 13 points complemented by Long and Goldman who scored 10 points.
Wesleyan increases their overall record to 5-6. Livingstone falls to a 5-7 overall record.
The Bobcats return to action Sunday in a non-conference competition at Johnson C. Smith for a 1:00 tip off.
