Women Defeated By Charleston

BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball team lost to Charleston in Thursday night's competition 61-55. After a hard fought rally in the fourth quarter, the Bobcats were not able to seal the win.

The Golden Eagles outscored the Bobcats 16-4 in the third quarter leaving the Bobcats trailing 39-28 leading into the fourth quarter. Coach Vicky Bullett's squad outscored Charleston 27-22 in the final quarter but unfortunately the Bobcats' third quarter performance left them with a loss.

Mari Stewart led the Bobcats scoring 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Stewart was complemented by Summer Matlack who scored 9 points.

Leading the Golden Eagles were Anna Hayton scoring 13pts, followed by Brooklyn Pannell and Madison Jones who both scored 10pts.

Wesleyan falls to a 5-10 overall record and 3-6 in the MEC. The Bobcats will return to action on Saturday at West Virginia State for a tip off at 2pm.
