Bobcats Fall to State

BUCKHANNON- West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball team lost on their home court to West Virginia State during Saturday's match up 75-69.

The Bobcats led the first quarter 21-16 and led into halftime 39-36. West Virginia State came out in the third quarter with high pressure outscoring Wesleyan 22-17 putting the score at 54-58 leading into the fourth quarter. Turnovers during crucial moments left the Bobcats to be outscored 17 to 12 in the final minutes.

Leading the Bobcats with a double-double was Mari Stewart scoring 24 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Following Stewart were Alexa Szelong scoring 18 points and Brittany Stawovy scoring 12 points.

West Virginia State was led by Aurreshae Hines scoring 27 points and Jordan Miller scoring 16 points.

Wesleyan falls to an overall record of 7-15 and an MEC record of 5-11. The Bobcats will return to action at Urbana on Thursday with a 5pm tip off.
