BRIDGEPORT -- Wheeling Jesuit has been selected by the league's coaches as the favorite to win the 2016 Mountain East Conference Women's Golf Championship this fall.
The Cardinals finished with 62 points and a maximum of eight first-place votes. WJU returns four of its five starters from last year's MEC championship team, including Kenaida Mills, last year's Freshman of the Year.
Notre Dame was second in the poll with 57 points and had the remaining first-place vote. Charleston was selected third with 52 points, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (36), Urbana (32) and UVa-Wise (31). Fairmont State (25), West Liberty (19) and Concord (10) rounded out the poll.
