Bobcat Lacrosse Opens with 15-5 Victory Over Chowan
Buckhannon, W.Va. -- The Wesleyan Bobcats Lacrosse team started their 2014 campaign off with a convincing 15-5 win against the Chowan University Hawks Friday afternoon at Freals "Red" Crites Memorial Stadium on the campus of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Due to the weather, the game was moved from 1pm at Cebe Ross Field to Buckhannon-Upshur's field at 4:30pm.
The Hawks of Chowan would rush out of the gate scoring the game's first goal, but Wesleyan would answer with an overpowering six unanswered goals quickly reclaiming the 6-1 lead. Chowan would add one more as well as the 'Cats and Wesleyan would take the 7-2 lead in to halftime.
More dominating performances by the Bobcats including long runs by Jocelyn Prescott and seven shots on goal by Taylor Holmes would keep the pressure on the Hawks. The teams would trade goals before the Bobcats would finally push the Hawks away for good and the final would read 15-5, Wesleyan. Goal keeper Kallie Morgan would collect her first win tallying four saves and only allowing five goals on the evening as Wesleyan looks to their next contest against Slippery Rock which will most likely be postponed, once again, because of Mother Nature.
