Lacrosse Team Loses a 19-3 Decision to Slippery Rock

BUCKHANNON – The brutal non-conference scheduled continued for the West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team today as they took on the No. 21-ranked Slippery Rock (Pa.) Rockets in a non-conference match-up at Cebe Ross Field.

The Lady 'Cats dropped a 19-3 decision.

Things started off well enough for Wesleyan as they took an early 1-0 lead when Madison Duvall scored the first goal of the game.

Katie Kennedy was credited with the assist.

Slippery Rock scored the next seven before Duvall tallied a short-handed goal at the 5:05 mark.

Hannah Antonelli had the assist on the goal.

Slippery Rock scored the next three to end the half and take a 10-2 lead.

Slippery Rock scored the first seven goals of the second half to open up a 17-2 advantage.

Samantha Pappas put Wesleyan on the board at the 9:54 mark for Wesleyan's final score with an unassisted goal.

Slippery Rock scored the games' final two goals.

Kim Lubic and Natalie Schaffner each had three ground balls while Schaffner had a team high four draw controls.

Lovely Ordonez-Lopez started in goal for Wesleyan and was credited with one save in 15 minutes of action.

Alexus Bonner record seven saves in 45 minutes of work.

Slippery Rock improved to 7-0 on the season while Wesleyan dropped to 1-6.

The Lady 'Cats will return to action this Saturday at Findlay.

The contest will start at 2 p.m.
