Lacrosse Team Tumbles to Findlay by a 20-6 score

FINDLAY, Ohio – A slow start cost the West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team today in their non-conference road outing with the Findlay Oilers.

Findlay scored just 20 second into the game and had a 2-0 lead after a minute of action.

Findlay went on to down the Lady Bobcats by a 20-6 score.

Findlay improved to 5-5 on the season while Wesleyan dropped to 1-7.

The Oilers tacked up another goal to make it 3-0 before Wesleyan got on the scoreboard when Madison Duvall scored an unassisted goal up player up at the 25:54 mark.

Findlay scored the next five goals for an 8-1 lead.

Hannah Antonelli ended the run with an unassisted goal at the 14:36 mark.

Findlay scored the final five goals of the half for a 13-2 lead at the intermission.

In the first seven minutes of the second half, the two teams traded two goals apiece.

Scoring for Wesleyan was Darla Quevedo with an unassisted goal and Natalie Schaffner scoring with an assist going to Duvall.

That made it a 15-4 contest.

Findlay scored the next four to up their lead to 19-4.

Wesleyan countered with a pair of goals with Schaffner and Duvall scoring. Samantha Pappas and Quevedo each had an assist.

Findlay scored a goal at the 3:10 mark to wrap up the scoring.

Duvall and Schaffner lead the offense with two goals apiece.

Findlay had a 32-13 lead in shots.

Wesleyan used two keepers in the game.

Kim Lubic started the game and made four saves in the first half and Lovely Ordonez-Lopez made two saves in the second half.

Wesleyan will return to action at home Friday when they host Notre Dame College in their first conference game of the year.

The contest will start at 5 p.m.
