FAIRMONT – Another game, another 1-0 victory for the 20th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat soccer team.
Wesleyan opened their season last week with a 1-0 win over Slippery Rock, and they duplicated that score again tonight against Fairmont State in a Mountain East Conference contest at Duvall-Rosier Field.
Tonight it was Audrey Barber who scored the goal for Wesleyan at the 45:35-minute mark of the game.
She scored on a breakaway into the bottom right corner of the net past Fairmont State keeper Shawna Graham.
Wesleyan freshman keeper Chelsea Hubner posted her second straight shutout of the season as she turned away two shots.
The Lady Bobcats had a whopping 18-5 lead in shots and led by a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Fairmont State was guilty of nine fouls while Wesleyan was called for four.
Wesleyan (2-0) will have their home opener this Friday when they host Mountain East Conference rival Notre Dame at Culpepper Stadium.
The game will kick off at 4 p.m.
