BUCKHANNON – The final score wasn't as decisive as the play on the field, but the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats were victorious by a 1-0 score over the Concord Mt. Lions tonight in a Mountain East Conference contest at Culpepper Stadium.
Wesleyan was the dominant team for most of the 90 minutes of action, but only found the back of the net one time.
The lone goal came in the 68th minute when Laura Hill (pictured) played a ball that deflected off a Concord defender and she dropped it to the upper right corner of the net.
Wesleyan made that goal stand up in the final 22 minutes of action.
The Lady Bobcats only allowed Concord one shot overall and one shot-on-goal.
Wesleyan meanwhile had 19 shot attempts and put 10 on goal.
The Lady Bobcats also held a 4-0 margin in corner kicks.
The shutout was the eighth for the Lady Bobcats and keeper Chelsea Hubner.
Hubner turned away the lone shot she saw during the game.
Concord dropped to 3-5-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the MEC.
Wesleyan stayed unbeaten on the year as they upped their record to 7-0-3 overall and 6-0-3 in the MEC.
The Lady Bobcats will return to action this Friday on the road against Wheeling Jesuit in a MEC clash.
Kick-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
