Lady 'Cats Post Ninth Shutout In 1-0 Win Over Rams

BUCKHANNON – The 10th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan posted their fourth straight shutout as they defeated the pesky Shepherd Rams by a 1-0 sore tonight in Mountain East Conference action at Culpepper Stadium.

It was the ninth shutout of the year for the Lady Bobcats, who have allowed just four goals on the season.

The lone goal of the game came in the 39th minute.

Carolyn Saulle (pictured) kept her impressive play going with the goal after she scored playing a cross.

Audrey Barber and Marissa Zetty were both credited with the assist.

The defense kept Shepherd off the board in the second half for the win.

Ashlee Schumacher and Chelsea Hubner shared time in the net for Wesleyan.

Schumacher started the game and earned the win turning away one shot. Hubner stopped two shots in the second half.

Wesleyan owned a 14-4 lead in shots and a 5-3 margin in shots-on-goal.

The Lady Bobcats were guilty of 11 fouls while the Rams were called for 10.

Shepherd dropped to 4-3-4 overall and 4-2-4 in the MEC.

Wesleyan improved to 11-0-1 overall and 10-0 in the MEC.

The Lady Bobcats will play again in conference action Sunday when they travel to Urbana.

The league match-up will start at noon.
