LBC Beats Charleston on Senior Day, 1-0

BUCKHANNON – The No. 13 West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats rebounded from their lone loss of the season with a 1-0 victory over the University of Charleston Golden Eagles tonight in a Mountain East Conference contest at Culpepper Field.

With the game appearing headed for overtime, Wesleyan scored in the 86th minute of the contest.

Audrey Barber (pictured) scored the goal from inside the box after accepting a pass from Natalie Prater.

Wesleyan owned a 25-10 lead in shots and had a 15-6 advantage in shots-on-goal.

Wesleyan's Chelsea Hubner and Ashlee Schumacher shared time in the net again with Schumacher playing the first half and making four stops while Huber played the second half and made two saves.

Wesleyan owned a 4-0 margin in corner kicks.

The Lady Bobcats were guilty of five fouls while Charleston was called for one.

It was also "Senior Day" for the Lady Bobcats as they honored their seven seniors.

Honored before the game were seniors Mary Cooper, Taylor Fox, Kelsie Hibbs, Emily Knight, Katie Robinson, Amy Stewart, Jacquelyn Wolfe along with senior athletic trainer Lindsey Wagoner

The loss dropped Charleston to 6-7-4 overall and 5-6-4 in the MEC.

Wesleyan improved to 15-1-1 overall and 14-1 in the MEC.

The Lady Bobcats will wrap up their regular season Saturday on the road against Wheeling Jesuit.

The game will kick-off at 4 p.m.
