BRIDGEPORT -- The field and seedings have been set for the 2017 Mountain East Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.
No. 13 West Virginia Wesleyan finished atop the conference standings to take the regular season championship and the No. 1 seed for the tournament. The Lady Bobcats went 14-2 in conference play and will be looking for their third MEC Tournament title.
Notre Dame finished second, Concord is seeded third and Shepherd is seeded fourth. Concord locked up the No. 3 seed with a point on the final day of play and will be making its first appearance in the MEC Tournament. Shepherd secured its spot in the tournament with a draw against Charleston on the final day.
The semifinal matchups will be Shepherd at West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m. and Concord at Notre Dame at 3 p.m.
West Virginia Wesleyan swept Shepherd during the regular season.
They beat the Rams on the road on Sept. 10 by a 1-0 score and then defeated them at home on Oct. 6 by that same indentical 1-0 score.
Molly Gorges has the goal at Shepherd while Carolyn Saulle had the score in the home match.
The semifinals will be played on Thursday, Nov. 1, at campus sites. The championship will be played on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the home site of the highest remaining seeded team.
