Women's Soccer Set For NCAA Soccer Tournament

BUCKHANNON-- West Virginia Wesleyan's Women's Soccer team is set for a return trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Patrick Holguin's squad captured the Mountain East Conference title last Sunday with a 1-0 win over Notre Dame. The Lady Bobcats enter the six-team Atlantic Regional as the number three seed, and will face number six seed Gannon on Friday at 2:00PM at East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Wesleyan enters the contest with a 17-2-1 record, while Gannon enters with a 13-4-2 mark. The winner of that game will face the host East Stroudsburg (15-3-3) on Sunday in the regional semifinal.

In the other bracket, MEC member Notre Dame (13-4-2) faces the four-seed Kutztown (16-3-1). The winner of that contest will face top seed West Chester (16-3-1).

"We are excited to be in the National Tournament this weekend. We are matched up with Gannon whom we played in the first round four or five years ago," Holguin said. "This will be a fantastic matchup as Gannon has had a great year."

It is Wesleyan's third trip to the NCAA Tourney in the last four years.
