Tennis Lady 'Cats Blank Alderson Broaddus, 9-0

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Alderson Broaddus Tuesday evening at the Wesleyan Tennis Complex.

In doubles action, Irene Nunez and Rebekka Heigermoser defeated Chelsea Jefferson and Eva Sever Garcia at No. 1 (8-1), Cecila Martinez Oliver and Julia Yanes beat Nicole Martin Taylor and England at No. 2 (8-0) and Estel Fernandez and Kasumi Hayashi downed Nneoma Amaechi and Andrea Corral at No. 3 (8-1).

In singles action, No. 1 Nunez defeated Sever Garcia (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Heigermoser beat Jefferson (6-1, 6-1), No. 3 Martinez Oliver downed England (6-0, 6-0), No. 4 Yanes beat Martin (6-0, 6-0), No. 5 Fernandez defeated Amaechi (6-2, 6-1) and No. 6 Hayashi bested Corral (6-0, 6-0).

The win left Marc Walter's squad with a 2-1 record overall.

They will return to action Thursday when they visit Concord for a 3 p.m. conference meeting.
