Lady 'Cats, Bobcats Take First at Glenville State

GLENVILLE – Both the men's and women's track and field programs picked up wins at the Glenville State Brandi Bowen Classic on Friday evening.

The women easily won scoring 287 points in the five-team field.

Second place Glenville State acculimated 117 points while Alderson-Broaddus was third with 102.

On the men's side, the Bobcats tallied 202 points while runner-up Glenville State picked up 174 points while West Liberty was third with 70.

The women picked up 10 victories.

In the field events, Essence Barron won two events, the long jump (5.37 meters) and the triple jump (11.12), Joy Price won the high jump (1.52), Aiyana Kachmarek won the discus (36.20) Rosa Morris won the shot put (11.35).

On the track, winning individual titles were Adrian Cunningham in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.48), Rachel Pinto in the 1500 meters (5:06.37), Vicki Crise in the 400 meters (1:00.91) and Mykera Days in the 100 meters (13.04).

The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Mollie Ambuul, Laura Blake, Emma Harrison and Ali Johnson was also victorious with a time of 4:18.92.

On the men's side, they took first place in six events.

In the field events, Marcus Black won the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:15.90), Ross Kim (6.68) won the long jump and Nick Moorhead won the shot put (15.38).

In the track events, Niles Dailey won the 110-meter hurdles (15.17), Caleb Riffle won the 400 meters (51.50) and Collin Wallace won the 10,000 (33:43.97).

Both teams will return to action this Friday when they host the Jasmine Claggett Memorial.
