DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – One school record was set, two NCAA provisionals were met and 10 victories were recorded for the West Virginia Wesleyan women's outdoor track and field team on Monday against Embry-Riddle in a dual meet at Daytona Beach.
Abby Buchan set a new school record in the javelin with a throw of 43.55 meters. The old mark was held by Ashli Knotts at 42.94 meters. With the throw, Buchan met the NCAA provisional set in that event.
Rachel Czulewicz also met the provisional in the javelin with a throw of 40.83 meters.
The women won 10 of the 17 events with Lauren Cvechko taking home four individual titles.
She won the 100 meters (12.94), the 100 hurdles (14.74), the high jump (1.62 meters) and the shot put (12.0 meters).
Mykera Days won the 200 meters (25.95), Lauren Leaman won the 400 hurdles (1:07.22), Jordan Lynn took the triple jump (11.05 meters), Aiyana Kachmarek was victorious in the discus (38.86 meters) and Buchan won the javelin.
The women outpointed Embry-Riddle by a 107.66-44.33 score.
On the men's side, the Bobcats won four events.
Niles Dailey claimed two individual titles.
He won the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.42 and the high jump with a leap of 1.77 meters.
The men came up just short for the team title by a 72.5-69.5 margin.
Both teams will compete again in the three-day UNC-Charlotte 49er Invitational starting on Thursday, March 16.
