BRIDGEPORT – Notre Dame College's Christian Strozier has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Lauren Cvechko is the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced today.
Strozier, a freshman from Twinsburg, Ohio, had a strong performance last week at the Bob Kahn Invitational coming up with four victories for the Falcons. He doubled in the 200 and 400 meters posting times of 22.21 and 49.17, respectively. He was also a member of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Cvechko, a senior from Buckhannon, W.Va., went over the 5,000-point mark in the heptathlon last week at the Tennessee Relays. Her point toal of 5,012 established a new school record in the event and was good enough for second collegiate athlete, second only to Sarah Goodale of Vanderbilt.
