WISE, Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to UVa.-Wise today in a Mountain East Conference contest.
The scores were – 25-23, 25-19, and 25-11.
Wesleyan was down 4-0 early in the first set, but rallied on an attack error by UVa.-Wise to take their first lead at 12-11.
Another attack error by UVa.-Wise gave Wesleyan their biggest lead at 18-15.
UVa.-Wise finished the first set on a 10-5 run to take the set by two.
A Hannah King kill in the second set gave Wesleyan a 12-10 advantage.
Like the first set, UVa.-Wise finished strong as they took the next 15 out of 22 points for the 25-19 victory.
In set three, Wesleyan fell behind by a 5-0 score and never recovered as they lost by 14.
Wesleyan is now 6-16 overall and 2-7 in the MEC.
UVa.-Wise improved to 5-20 overall and 3-6 in the MEC.
King led the team with 11 kills while Paulina Nottingham led the squad with 23 assists.
Hannah Bradford had the lone service ace for the Lady 'Cats.
Hannah Moore had a team-high nine digs.
Wesleyan will have little time to rest as they play in a tri-match Saturday.
They will face Concord, the tri-match host at 11 a.m and then play Winston-Salem at 1 p.m.
