Volleyball Lady 'Cats Fall In Straight Sets to Urbana

URBANA, Ohio – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat volleyball team ran into a juggernaut here tonight against the Urbana Blue Knights in a Mountain East Conference contest.

The Lady Bobcats dropped a straight sets decision – 25-15, 25-11 and 25-18.

Wesleyan fell behind by a 7-1 score and was never able to recover in the first set. The closest Wesleyan was able to get in the first set was six, at 13-7.

Urbana kept the momentum going in the second set as they won by 14.

A kill by Emily Doyle gave Wesleyan an 8-6 lead in the third set, but Urbana went on a 13-4 run for a 19-12 lead.

A kill by Leah Blend brought Wesleyan back to within five, at 23-18, but Urbana recorded the next two points for the win.

Doyle had a team-high five kills while Blend and Ebonie Hicks each had four.

Katlyn Buckland had a team-high 14 assists.

Buckland and Hannah Bradford each had a team-high 11 digs.

Urbana improved to 11-12 overall and 5-3 in the MEC.

Wesleyan dropped to 8-14 overall and 3-5 in the MEC.

The Lady Bobcats will return to action Saturday at Notre Dame College at 6 p.m.
