Wesleyan Falls to Fairmont in Regular Season Finale

BUCKHANNON -- West Virginia Wesleyan's volleyball team closed their regular season Saturday night, falling to Fairmont in four sets; 15-25, 27-25, 13-25, 17-25. 

 
Coach Nancy Wheeler's squad now awaits word of their post season fate. Wesleyan is 6-10 in the MEC and 12-19 in the league, and sitting in eighth in the Mountain East standings.
 
Against Fairmont, Wheeler's troops pulled out an exciting second set 27-25, but could not carry that momentum in the final sets. Fairmont closes their regular season 21-10 overall and 11-5 in the MEC. They are fourth in the league standings.  
 
Wesleyan was led by freshman Emily Doyle with 11 kills. Ebonie Hicks added eight and Hannah King seven. Setter Katlyn Buckland delivered 32 assists. 
  
Hannah Bradford recorded 26 digs and also posted a team high three service aces. Senior Leah Blend ended her Rockefeller Center career with a team high four blocks.
 
Wheeling Jesuit's McDonough Center is the site for next week's Mountain East Conference Volleyball Tournament. Play starts Thursday and extends through Saturday in the eight-team single elimination event.
