BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan competitive dance team earned a bid to the National Dance Alliance College Cheer and Dance National Championships.
Â
The WVWC Bobcat competitive dance team participated in a National Dance Alliance home camp here on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College and learned material from an NDA staff Instructor in order to receive a bid qualification to the College National Championships. The team not only received a Bid to the NDA College Cheer and Dance National Championships, but they received a superior rating, the highest rating offered based on showcasing the trifecta of technique, memory and showmanship.Â
Â
The dancers had to fully participate in classes over the weekend, learning two other routines on top of the team performance piece it was evaluated on, and also show a constant display of positive work ethic, teamwork, leadership and spirit. The NDA Championships is the largest Collegiate Cheer and Dance National competition in the world.
Â
Team Captains,
Kylie McMillin and
Haylee Shires received Outstanding Technique awards at the camp.
Â
The Bobcat dancers will now begin the work on learning choreography for the routines they will compete in at the National Championships. The NDA Collegiate Nationals event is held April 6-10 in Daytona Beach, Fla.Â
