Lacrosse Handed 22-2 Defeat at Notre Dame (OH)

The Wesleyan women's lacrosse team continued their road ways on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Notre Dame (OH). The Bobcats were dealt a 22-2 loss, leaving the team still in search of the first win in school history.

Wesleyan fell behind 11-0 before Kelly Steen (pictured) netted the first goal of the day with 1:19 to go in the first half. Macy Webster provided the assist on the play.

After giving up an early second half goal to Notre Dame, the Bobcats came back with an unassisted goal by Marissa Wright at the 28:11 mark to make the score 12-2.

Unfortunately, Wesleyan was unable to beat the keeper for the remainder of the contest, as Notre Dame added ten unanswered goals for the final count of 22-2.

The Bobcats were outshot on goal 30-13 but hung close in the second half at 13-10. Notre Dame also picked up 17 total ground balls to 12 for Wesleyan.

Ashley Ferguson and Wright each tied for a team high three ground balls apiece. Nisha Nadkar, meanwhile, finished the day with two ground balls.

Saturday's loss drops the Bobcats to 0-5 on their inaugural campaign. Wesleyan is scheduled to open its home slate on March 31 against Shippensburg (PA) at 4 p.m. The game will be played at Cebe Ross Field.
