Lacrosse Falls to Ship in First Ever Home Game, 18-0

The Wesleyan women's lacrosse team made history on a cold and snowy Thursday afternoon, hosting the Raiders of Shippensburg (PA) in the first ever home game in school history. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the 18-0 outcome did not swing in their favor.

The Raiders notched the first goal on Wesleyan's home turf at the 27:39 point on an unassisted score by Karen Schnurr.

Shippensburg's next three goals all came within a minute apart, as the Raiders extended the advantage to 4-0 at the 23:44 mark.

Shippensburg pushed the lead to 12-0 at the half and never looked back en route to the 18-0 final.

The Bobcats were out shot on the day by a 29-4 margin and lost the groundball battle as well 30-19.

Wesleyan was paced offensively by Kelly Steen (pictured) with a team high two shots. Nisha Nadkar and Daytona Maher tied for the team lead in ground balls with four.

Marissa Wright took the defeat in goal, allowing all 18 scores while turning back ten shots on the day.

The Bobcats are now 0-6 with the defeat and will next play Seton Hill on the road at 3 p.m. on April 5.
