Box Score The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team was on the road tonight playing their first regular season in-conference match against West Liberty University. After taking the match to four suspenseful games, the Bobcats defeated the Lady Hilltoppers 3-1.
West Liberty took the first game of the match in a close rally, 23-25. Not letting the loss stop them, the Lady Bobcats went to win game two 25-18. Game three and four also went to Wesleyan, 27-25 and 25-23.
Standout performances in the front row for Wesleyan went to sophomore, Paula Renteria (pictured), and senior, Ashley Ziegle. Both Renteria and Ziegle recorded hitting percentages above .500, Renteria with .722 and Ziegle with .600. Renteria led the way with a total of 15 kills with only 2 errors for the match. Ziegle had 8 total kills, 2 errors, and also tallied 3 service aces for the Bobcats.
Having an impressive game blocking for Wesleyan was sophomore, Korin Wengryn, who put down 3 block assists for the night.
Junior libero, Renata Comparini, had a solid game in the back row for the Lady Bobcats picking up a team high of 19 digs.
Setting for Wesleyan was sophomore, Casey Pattyn, with a total of 37 assists.
The Lady Bobcats are now 1-0 in the WVIAC and advance to a record of 5-4 overall. The ladies are next in action this weekend as they travel to compete in the Davis & Elkins tournament.
